Bella Winery specialises in sparkling wine, the only winery in British Columbia to do so. This family-owned winery produces more than 15 different sparkling wine variations, made with both traditional and ancestrale methods.
For many years, Bella made wine from Chardonnay and Gamay grapes only. As Gamay has become more popular (and harder to source), the family has branched out to experimenting with other grapes.
The owners take pride in creating sparkling wines in a sustainable way so don’t be surprised to spot chickens roaming the vines while you enjoy your delicious bubbly!
The winery, by the way, was named after the winemaker’s bulldog. Bella has since passed, but Buddha, another bulldog, continues to roam the property.
Wine tasting takes place in the small farm indoor tasting room or outside. Bella works a little differently than other local wineries and tastings are first come, first serve only (no reservations).
Be prepared to wait up to 30 minutes for a tasting to begin. There are two options – a cheaper, three wine tasting (fee is refundable with purchase) and a premium six wine tasting (non-refundable fee).
