Kettle Valley Winery is one of the oldest on the Bench, being issued only the third winery license for the area way back in 1992.
Before such licenses even existed, the owners first purchased the land simply to make wine as a hobby. It is important to note that Kettle Valley Winery still has the same owners as it did back then, something that is a rarity on the Bench.
This legacy and love of winemaking still show today with their confident and extensive range of vintages. Keeping things modest, the laid-back tasting room is located in the garage where the owners once used to make wine during those early days.
Side views of Okanagan Lake are visible from the home-based winery. When planning a trip, keep in mind that the drive to the tasting room may take longer than you may think since it is located down a narrow side road. Reservations are recommended.
While the tasting room may be quite humble, the wines are not. A highlight is the winery’s collection of reds, with the Syrah and Pinot Noir being highlights. If you are a red wine drinker, I’d be sure to add Kettle Valley Winery to your tour list.
